Ramona Futbol Club (RFC) presents a new local recreational soccer league that allows players to train and compete in small sided games. Every player will spend more time with the ball resulting in better development of their fundamental foot skills and strategy. Ramona Girls Soccer team, make an impact at College Showcase Tournaments this summer
August 15, 2013 -- Ramona, CA. The Girls Under 17 Arsenal Futbol Club (FC), formally Ramona FC, soccer team have spent their summer traveling to high level College Showcase tournaments in preparation for premier level play this fall season. “Many of the players are looking to play in college and this is an excellent opportunity for the girls to be seen by hundreds of college coaches from around the nation.” explained Coach Justin “JJ” Jordan. In June, the girls attended the Arsenal FC Summer Classic in Riverside with a 2-1-0 record. Sub coming to an Arsenal National team 0-3, and Strikers FC from Cerritos’ Premier Development National Team (1-0) and winning against Temecula Valley Hawks (3-1). In July, the girls participated in the SoCal Summer Showcase at Cal Poly Pomona. With game temperatures over 100 degrees, the girls lost their first game to LA Premier FC (1-2), and beat Corinthians SC (2-0) and a different Strikers FC team from Cerritos (2-1). Also in July the team traveled to Northern California (Pleasanton), to participate in one of the largest tournaments on the west coast, the Rage College Showcase where College coaches and scouts from UC Davis, Cal Berkeley, Humbolt, University of Pacific/Hawaii, and many other large universities were present. This tournament included ranked teams from northern California and Washington. Most teams ranked in the top 50 for their state. “I am very proud of this team. They played well and stepped up against premier level teams. I am excited to be a part of the Arsenal Club and provide these opportunities for our Ramona players.” said Coach JJ. The Arsenal FC girls finished the showcase with a 1-1-2 record , losing 0-3 to Orchard Valley YSL Chaos (Morgan Hill, CA-Northern Cal), a tie 1-1 to Sacramento United Spitfire, a win 2-1 Turlock FC Tornados (premier team from Sacramento) and a tie 0-0 FC Alliance (Woodinville, WA). At the end of July the team was invited to play at Del Mar’s Surf Cup in a “friendly” match against San Diego United. The game was viewed by several college coaches from California, Colorado, Maryland, Hawaii and Utah. In addition to regular training several of the girls have attended college id camps at UCSD, USD, and Arsenal. Next weekend the girls play in San Diego in the Attack Tournament held in Torrey Pines.
Arsenal FC at the Crown City Classic
August 15, 2013 -- Ramona, CA. Arsenal FC San Diego North GU13 participated in the Crown City Classic held in Coronado Aug 3rd & 4th. This is the inaugural season for the girls and their first tournament played under Arsenal FC. The girls competed well over the weekend and with amazing saves by goal keeper Hope Sooley as she kept games close. Ramona Futbol Club, Inc. is sponsoring an Indoor Futsal league to benefit Ramona High School Girls Soccer Program at Wilson Gym.
Futsal is listed as a National Direction of Skills Development that US Soccer has instructed US Academy soccer programs to use. This training will focus on developing the players through fun age appropriate skills and exercises. Futsal gives the opportunity for the player to learn how to control the ball, and move with the ball in a smaller and increasingly faster paced controlled environment, so that when the player moves onto the soccer field, the game is his.
Registration for RHS Futsal will be this Friday, March 8th, 5pm to 7pm at The Ramona Valley Grill. Come bring the family and enjoy dinner with a registration special of 10% off! This 12 week session begins March 12th, Tuesday and Thursday training sessions, with Game Night Friday Nights. Recreational and competitive levels available. Ages 4 through 19. The cost is $45 for the 12 week session, and $35 for RFC/AFCSD members.
